Sitting on a large hillside plot filled with gardens, terraces and a swimming pool, B&B Antico Carrubo offers a real family welcome from Mariella, Vito and Domenico. Their beautiful house (three guest rooms) is in a quiet area surrounded by fields, fruit trees and olives. It’s conveniently situated for the coast, just 5km from the centre of Monopoli and the beach at Capitolo.
The terraces and verandahs are really quite special and the terrace surrounding the large swimming pool has abundant sun loungers and parasols. There is also a hot tub. Indoors there is a guest lounge and also a communal guest fridge, and wine and beer is available.
Each morning a breakfast of homemade cakes, coffee and fruit juice can be enjoyed inside or on the veranda. There is also fresh fruit, yoghurt, tomato, egg, cheese, ham, pastries, bread and up to 15 different homemade jams. For other meals, guests are recommended to try out one of Monopoli's popular seafood restaurants such as La Lampara sui Colli, La Mia Terra, and SIR Special Italian Roots, all a short distance from Antico Carrubo.
The guest bedrooms are located on the ground floor so they are accessible to people of limited mobility. Each one has air conditioning, flat-screen TV, wi-fi and an en-suite bathroom.
A car is recommended for getting about and enjoying the area, although a a transfer service from Monopoli train station and Brindisi and Bari airports can be arranged. Bikes are available for exploring the nearby area, or going further afield there is the Castellana Grotte caves, the famous trulli in Alberobello, and other towns like Ostuni and Locorotondo.
