Reasons to visit Venice

What can we say about Venice that hasn't already been said? It really is the most bonkers place to build a city. Yet the Venetian Republic was a political and commercial powerhouse for over 1000 years. And now that time has moved on, the elegant decay of the last few centuries has presented us with an amazing city of architecture, art and culture that is surely on everyone's bucket list.

A hotel stay in the heart of the city is the perfect way to see Venice, soaking up the sights and sounds that will surround you. Take a trip over to the island of Murano to see the island's traditional glass-blowing industry, and maybe pick up a souvenir or two. Stroll though the labyrinth of back streets and tiny waterways and wonder at the craziness of it all. Then pop out through a gap onto the Grand Canal and gaze in awe at the Rialto Bridge. And of course no visit to Venice could ever be complete without a romantic gondola ride along the canals of the city.

The history of Venice Lido is like a microcosm of the city itself. It grew as a resort to see and be seen, packed with elegant villas and exciting hotels. Then it plunged into decline, but now is rising again. Sustainable, personal, on a human scale. And of course, sunny and beautiful.
