Since time immemorial stars have brought out the romantic in people. So what could be more romantic (and awe-inspiring) than to spend a night with your loved-one in your very own star capsule, gazing up at the millions of stars that fill the sky above? Most city-dwellers have never even seen the Milky Way, yet here it is, nearly every night, in all its splendour.

Zielo Las Beatas is a unique hotel where guests can sleep in their own bubble, a luxurious double ‘room’ screened from the rest of the world yet wide open to the sky. Each bubble stands in its own large private patio with room to relax, sunbathe by day and even have your breakfast in privacy. Central to each bubble is the sleeping capsule with its large clear dome over the kingsize four—poster bed. It even has a top-quality astronomical telescope. The en-suite bathroom has a shower with a view of the sky and of course there are all the usual luxuries like air-conditioning, bathrobes, slippers, a minibar and luxury toiletries.

The four bubbles are named naturally enough after the most eminent astronomers, Copernicus, Galileo, Halley and Kepler. A fifth bubble contains a jacuzzi for an even more romantic way of viewing the unpolluted night sky.

Away from the bubble capsules, the hotel has a large lawned garden and a large swimming pool. There is a restaurant serving a la carte dinners, lunchtime menus and snacks and tapas to enjoy at any time. There is also a bar with large comfortable sofas where guests can enjoy a drink or simply relax.

As well as providing the dark night skies essential for star-gazing, the local area has much more to offer for both cultural and active holidays. It’s a great place for walking, cycling, horse-riding and kayaking. The wetlands of Daimel are utterly unique and the Ruidera lakes are full of birds, lagoons, waterfalls and beautiful sights. For architecture, guests might visit the plaza de la villa in Villanueva de Los Infantes 17th century theatre in Almagro.
